공항 출국장에 가시면 departure card (출국서)를 작성해야 합니다. 물론 해외 여행을 자주 가보신 분이라면 큰 어려움이 없겠지만 그렇지 못할 경우엔 departure card에 나온 단어들에 익숙하지 않아서 어려움을 겪습니다. 오늘은 그에 대한 연습을 해 봅니다. 아래 대화에서 A는 우리나라 분이고, B는 현지 공항 직원이라고 가정해서 영작을 해보세요.
A: 출국서 적는 것 좀 도와주시겠습니까? 제가 영어를 잘 못하거든요.
B: 물론이죠. 뭘 도와드릴까요?
A: ‘destination’이 뭐죠?
B: 네, ‘destination’은 목적지를 말합니다. 예를 들어 하와이로 가신다면 하와이가 destination이 되는 거죠.
A: 아, 알겠어요. 그렇다면 저의 destination은 플로리다로군요.
B: 그렇습니다. 이 난에는 ‘Florida’라고 쓰면 됩니다.
