University enrollment to be cut by 16,000 1
The number of new students enrolling at universities next year will be cut by nearly 16,000, the largest reduction in history, the Ministry of Education announced. The step, which results from the government's plan to reform higher education, will reduce the number of new enrollees this coming March to about 621,000 from about 637,000 this year, the ministry said. The overall figures are the sum of cuts planned by various universities in steps to reduce class size and meet other goals.
